Fight Day

Always Ready to have a Fighter's Back

A fighter should be solely concentrated on Fighting, Especially on Fight Day!

I am able to help a fighter to be his/her best when that bell rings by offering

  • Hand Wrapping
  • Cutman Duties
  • Pre Fight Stretching
  • Fight Day Hydration & Nutrition
  • Fight Week Management

I always tell people that my number one job with any fighter is to do all I can to protect them.  Sometimes it is preparing their body & mind so they can perform at their peak.  Sometimes it is telling them something they can't or don't want to hear.  Most often it is protecting them from themselves.

FIghter's Back Fight Day Services REQUESTED

Hand Wrapping

Humbly, this is one of my strongest strengths because I know it is a science and one wrap is not for everyone.  I learn from the fighter what past & current issues they have had with their hands, wrists and arms and develop a wrap that best serves them in a fight and protects their hands.  (See more on Hand wrapping below).

Equipment, Nutrition, Medical, & Obligation Management

I allow the fighter to focus on the fight.  I ensure all of their equipment (gloves, mouthpiece, cup, walkout wear/flags, banners,  are ready to go.  I deal with promorter to ensure the medicals for the fighter and their opponent have been submitted properly.   I pay attention to every detail to best ensure all rules are being followed equally and all obligations to the promoter are met.  I even deal with family and friends who may be (unknowingly) distracting fighters hours leading up the the fight.  I ensure the fighter has the equipment & music needed to let them warm up the way they like to.  Basically, I try to ensure there are no surprises or distractions.

Cutman Services

  •  Treating Cuts and Swelling
  •  Applying Coagulants and Vasoconstrictors to minimize bleeding
  • Manage corner operations to make sure the fighters cuts are tended to, the stool is ready for the fighter, the fighter gets water or ice needed and to clean corner to prevent ire of the officials
  • Communicate with coaching staff to update them on the status of damage taken so they can strategize adjustments and make informed decisions about the health of the fighter.

Mental, Emotional & Physical Support

I provide fight day relaxation advice to prepare the body.  This includes cupping, massaging, stretching, etc.  Fighters often experience intense emotions before and during competition and as a someone in the locker room and/or  the corner, I am there to offer emotional support and keep the fighter focused and determined.

What is the importance of hand wraps ?

Overall:

Hand and Wrist Protection:

Hand and Wrist Protection:

It's important to note that hand wrapping should be done correctly to achieve its intended benefits. Improper wrapping can lead to inadequate support and potential injuries. Fighters often work with experienced trainers or cut men who have the knowledge and expertise to wrap their hands effectively and safely.

Hand and Wrist Protection:

Hand and Wrist Protection:

Hand and Wrist Protection:

The primary purpose of hand wrapping is to provide added protection to the fighter's hands and wrists. The wraps stabilize the small bones in the hand and wrist, reducing the risk of fractures and other injuries during impact.

Support and Stability:

Hand and Wrist Protection:

Support and Stability:

By wrapping the hands, the fighter's wrists are immobilized to some extent, offering added support and stability during punches. This helps maintain proper alignment and reduces the likelihood of sprains and strains.

This differs with each fighter depending on fight style.   MMA needs to be different than boxing due to the use of hands in grappling.

Absorbing Shock:

Reducing Hand Fatigue:

Support and Stability:

During combat sports, fighters deliver and receive powerful blows. The hand wraps act as a layer of cushioning that helps absorb some of the shock from punches, protecting the delicate bones and tissues in the hands.

Reducing Hand Fatigue:

Wrapping the hands properly can also help reduce hand fatigue during long bouts. The wraps distribute the pressure evenly across the hand, preventing excessive strain on any particular area.

Enhancing Punching:

Hand wraps create a firmer and more secure fit inside the boxing gloves. This improves the fighter's ability to maintain proper punching technique and deliver more effective strikes.
