Every Fighter, No Matter How Tough, Needs Someone To Have Their Back. Fighter's I Wo
True Fighters devote their life to the sport. I don’t mean solely their actual physical well being in the worst situations, but the day-to-day life that others take for granted. Dates, social events, family moments, and a list of so many things are not experienced by fighters like others at their age.
True Fighters understand that and put the rest of their life on pause to work towards their championship dreams.
As a lifelong combat sports enthusiast and training in several disciplines for more than 15 years I have always respected fighters for this. However, once I started being in fight camps & training camps I saw too many fighters without coaches while they competed or fighters with coaches that just didn't have the skill / knowledge to ensure their fighter was entering the ring/cage as safely as possible.
I was horrified and felt fighters were not being respected. They need someone to watch their back.
When coaching, I always say my greatest responsibility is to look out for my fighter, especially when they can’t or won’t look out for themselves.
I truly believe a fighter should only worry about fighting and they should have a team that ensures that everything else is taken care of. Nothing should distract them from their mission.
Fighters need someone who is making sure the brutal game is as safe as possible and they are entering in the best possible shape.
A variety of fighters in my life have inspired me to do what I do. The first fighter who asked me for help, actually, needed my business acumen to help him navigate his career and obtain sponsorship.
Another came to me looking for help in getting him fights and teaching him the sweet science . While improving his boxing fundamentals he mentioned that he did not have access to the strength and conditioning he needed, so I went out and sought the education I needed to get him what he needed to bring his MMA game to the next level.
Unexpectedly, I was with one fighter on his weight cut day, without any of his coaches or teammates around. I had never done a weight cut and I watched him suffer, without knowing how to help. I immediately took it upon myself to get certified by the UFC's best weight cut specialists. I was never going to watch anyone go through a weight cut improperly again.
I respect the many gyms and coaches who have also dedicated themselves to the sport and their fighters. I understand that when you have a gym full of talent, there is no way for you to be everything to everybody. These coaches are able to do something that I would never be able to give. I am able to give their fighters something extra that isn't available at their gym.
I am eager to collaborate with coaches and gyms and helping the athlete work at their physical best. When I can address where the athlete and/or their coach wants improvement I am at my best. I love being a specialist and am never looking to replace a gym or coaching team.
